Animoto to State of Fear

Is John Kenner a real person?

In the novel "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton, John Kenner plays a very interesting character. He is very outspoken about his beliefs and not only believes global warming is a hoax but also has evidence that humans are the ones that cause natural disasters to increase. You dont hear much fjrom Kenner in the beginning but as the book goes on he becomes one of the main characters. John Kenner takes Sarah Jones and Peter Evans on many adventures to show them exactly what NERF has been up to. As they go from place to place, John Kenner explains his theory about global warming to Sarah and Evans. NERF is causing natural disasters to make people believe in global warming. I believe Kenner plays a big part in the book because I think Michael Crichton uses Kenner as a character to share his own beliefs.

Blog #3 - Speech by John Kleist

After researching global warming, I was all for it. Al Gore made such good points about how global warming was the cause of the snow on mountain tops melting away and all the major disasters. He also pointed out lakes shrinking and how there is more and more co2 each year. however, after listening to John Kleist, I am now more confused than ever. He too had some powerful explanations about the changes of the earth's temperature. He goes on to say how the average temp in the last 550 million years is approximately 22C but today it is only 14C. John states that the earth is actually cooler now than it has been in a while. His explanation for the glaciers shrinking is simply natures course. He also believes through time they will build back up, which to me makes sense. In school we are taught that history repeats itself so why would this not apply to the earth and the affects nature has on it. John Kleist made a good point when he said it is not as if these disasters today are necessarily worse than the ones before, it is just that we now have the technology to see just how powerful they are. Both John and Al Gore have really good evidence to why things are the way they are, which at the moment makes me confused on what exactly it is that I believe.

Blog #2 - Inconvenient Truth

After watching Al Gore's movie "Inconvenient Truth" it made me think a lot about Global Warming. He showed us pictures of mountain tops which have hardly any snow left on top, Al Gore says this is due to global warming. He also presented tons of graphs and charts showing just how big of an affect global warming has on our world that we may not realize. Al Gore mentions how global warming is affecting not only the places we live but also the animals which like in these icy areas, such as the polar bears. These animals live in the north side of north America, Europe and Asia, where the ice is breaking away and melting due to the earth warming. This is destroying their habitat, giving them no place to live. All of these examples should show us just how important global warming is.
